As summer winds down, Medicare beneficiaries should keep an eye on their mailbox for one of the most important documents they’ll receive all year, the Annual Notice of Change (ANOC). This is required to be delivered by September 30 and is sent by your current Medicare Advantage or Part D prescription drug plan. It outlines any changes that will take effect in 2027 starting January 1. Even if you’re happy with your current plan, it’s important to remember that plans can change from year to year.
It’s tempting to set Medicare mail aside with the rest of the seasonal paperwork, but the ANOC deserves your attention. Changes to your plan could affect your healthcare costs, your access to doctors and hospitals, or whether your medications are still covered affordably.
This document explains what’s changing with your Medicare plan, but it’s just as important to consider what’s changed for you. Next month, we’ll look at the health and lifestyle changes that can help determine whether your current coverage is still the right fit.
We expect some changes, especially in medication pricing, as some government subsidies that helped with prescription plan premiums will end.
