Offered by: The Reverend Deborah Hill, St. Elizabeth’s Episcopal Church
So many of us believe in God, but we don’t make time to go to church on Sundays or throughout the week. After all, if God is everywhere, why go to church?
I once heard someone say that the whole atmosphere is filled with water, but when you are thirsty you still need to go to a fountain or a well to drink. God is everywhere, but he wants us to seek and find him in his Son in whom the “whole
fullness of deity dwells bodily” (Col. 2:9).
And where is Jesus Christ now? Jesus said, “For where two or three are gathered in my name, I am there among them” (Matt. 18:20). Wherever his Word is read and preached, wherever his people are baptized, wherever the meal of his body and blood is shared, wherever forgiveness and freedom and hope are spoken to each and all, Christ is present.
One lonely coal left in a fireplace on its own will quickly go out. But if banked against a group of other coals, then together they can keep a house warm throughout the long cold winter nights.
St. Elizabeth’s Episcopal Church is a group of families and individuals in and around Brighton who come together for fellowship and to worship God. We gather together at the fountain to drink deeply, and we find ourselves strengthened in our faith, and comforted by the friendship we offer each other. We would love to have you come and join us!
