Offered by Brighton Shares the Harvest

BSH_Logo_NoWebsiteMany of you are busily planning and dreaming over seed catalogues. We have an excellent partnership with a semi-local seed company, Botanical Interests in Broomfield. If you go to our website, www.BrightonSharesTheHarvest.org, and click on the Botanical Interests banner on the right side of the page to go to their website, they will rebate 20% of the total price of your seed order back to us, but only if you go our website to get to theirs. They have great seeds, no GMO, and many organic choices. We made $137 from this partnership program last year, which is a great way to fund our programs.

Brighton’s Community Garden Plots are now available for rent. You have to show up in person at the Rec Center and be prepared to pay your rental fee at that time ($20 for City residents, $30 for all others). If you need help with the rental fees, call us at 720-301-0949; we have some money budgeted to help with that. More information is available at http://brightonco.gov/546/Community-Gardens. Brighton Shares The Harvest will be providing information to everybody who rents a garden plot and a packet of free seeds to help you get started; you should receive a yellow envelope with that information when you register.

Once again we are partnering with the Adams County CSU Extension Office to bring four great Saturday morning classes to you. Whether this will be your first year growing vegetables or you’re an experienced gardener, you’ll find something of interest in these affordable two-hour classes, which include: Intro to Vegetable Gardening (2/18), Seed Starting for Vegetable Gardeners including a Seed Exchange (3/11), All About Tomatoes (4/8), and Vegetable Varieties for Colorado (5/6). See below for registration information, location, etc.. Please note that there is a discount if you sign up for all four classes, and we also have scholarship money available if you need help paying for the classes.

Please join us at Brighton Anythink Library on Saturday February 25 from 11am-1pm for a free seed giveaway/seed exchange. We have hundreds of packets of fruit and vegetable seeds to share with Brighton area gardeners!

Please call 720-301-0949 for more information.
