Tolison & WilliamsWow, how the time flies by! We are thrilled to be celebrating our fourth anniversary and continuing our tradition of working with the Brighton Buzz for the July issue. We are excited to be supporting more local events and growing our practices and services to this booming area.

Katie continues to work with family law clients, and once again received prestigious recognition with her nomination for Super Lawyers Rising Stars in 2017, making this her seventh time being recognized as a preeminent practitioner in her field. Katie has also been recognized as a, “Top 40 Family Lawyer Under 40” by the American Society of Legal Advocates and also received a Clients Choice Award by AVVO.

Katie continues to serve as a Board Member for Senior Hub, Inc., and is always enjoying time with her kids, their activities, her new home (that is slowly becoming quite the farm!) and family events. She is an active member of the Adams and Broomfield Bar Association, the Denver Bar Association, and the Colorado Bar Association.

Casey continues to work with private clients in the areas of elder law, estate planning, probate, and trust settlement, and manages an intense caseload in her role as a Deputy Public Administrator for Adams and Broomfield Counties. She was appointed as one of seven attorneys to serve on the Colorado Supreme Court Probate Rules Committee, and is looking forward to some great rule, policy, and form changes that this Committee has been working on. She continues to serve on the Probate Advisory Workgroup and as Chairperson for the Colorado Bar Association’s for the Rules and Forms Committee next term.

Zack continues to manage a busy and growing family law litigation practice. Aside from his favorite past time, which is spending time outside with his beautiful Wife and Daughters, Zack is an active member in the Adams and Broomfield Bar Association and the Colorado Bar Association. Zack is a strong member of the family law team and continues to shine.

When she is not busy helping her granddaughter raise her award-winning bunnies or chasing her sweet, energetic little grandson, Cindy Schell continues to provide awesome support to Katie by assisting with their busy litigation practice. Cindy and Katie have worked together for over nine years this year!

We were happy to add four full time team members to our family last year—Carla Ramsey, Kim Bauknecht, Jaqueline Kosik, and Ellen Toomey-Hale. Carla is a great paralegal with a very diverse background, who recently moved back to Colorado from Nebraska (Go Huskers!) with her Husband, Jim. Carla is busy supporting Zack and their family law clients. Kim has spent most of her career as an advocate for adults with intellectual disabilities and is now taking her advocacy skills to the next level and supporting Casey as a paralegal and case manager. Jacqueline joined the team as a legal assistant to Casey in January and has already contributed to some changes to improve the client experience.

Ellen Toomey-Hale joined our practice as an Associate Attorney and is working with Casey handling estate planning, guardianships and conservatorships, and probate matters. Ellen is a former Deputy District Attorney and District Court Magistrate, and brings years of valuable and diverse legal experience to our practice. Ellen is an active member of the Adams and Broomfield Bar Association, the Colorado Bar Association, and serves on the Platteville Library Association Board.

Tolison & Williams is a proud sponsor of a new event called the “17th Judicial District Senior Law Day,” to be held on June 2, 2018 at the Adams County Fair Grounds. We will be working with the District Attorney’s office, the City and County of Broomfield, and members of the community to organize and host this important community educational event that will focus on “elder law” issues including estate planning, guardianships and conservatorships, end of life planning issues, financial planning and fraud prevention, and public benefits. If you are interested in attending, volunteering, or sponsoring, please contact Casey.

Thank you to the Brighton community in particular for supporting us and involving us in your lives and events. We think that Adams and Broomfield Counties are great places to practice but also great places with bright futures that we look forward to being a part of.

We wish you a blessed summer and safe and happy Independence Day!
