Brighton Pediatrics recommends your child be vaccinated with both the Covid and flu vaccines! The Covid vaccine is the best way to protect your child from Covid-19, including the Delta strain. It’s also the best way to facilitate your child participating in extracurriculars and favorite activities since quarantine requirements are different for the vaccinated and unvaccinated. The flu vaccine is the best way to protect your child from influenza and its potentially serious complications.

Your child should receive the Covid vaccine when eligible, which is currently 12 years old and up (likely to soon include 5-11 year old’s), and their flu vaccine as soon as possible, for those 6 months and up.

Both vaccines offer the same protection whether given alone or together. Common side effects may occur from either or both vaccines, including soreness at the injection site, fatigue, headaches, body aches, and low-grade fever. These symptoms are mild and go away within one to two days. Please call Brighton Pediatrics at 303-659-4248 to schedule your child’s Covid and flu vaccines, or if you have further questions.
