It always seems like summer begins and everyone is excited to have time to be outside and experience activities that don’t happen other times of the year. In a very short while, the focus changes and families are preparing to send their children Back to School. This year is no different than any other. We’ve had quite a few warm days and plenty of good weather to accommodate all sorts of plans for recreation. It’s our hope that our readers have had time to enjoy their children being out of school and are looking forward to a new year of learning for those same children wherever they go to school.
This time of year in Brighton is when being in an agricultural mecca produces wonderful eating for everyone. It’s one of those times when stopping by a local market daily for fresh sweet corn, fruit, and vegetables on the way home is a special gift for people who live here. Brighton’s community celebrates Market Day in the month of August, and this year on the 20th in Downtown Brighton, there will be a
celebration of all things agricultural from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Please plan to stop by and enjoy the music, food, vendors and a chance to learn more about the great area we live in.
Our cover advertiser, Palizzi Farm, will also celebrate with their annual Labor Day weekend event from September 2nd through September 5th. Sunday, September 4th will be a day of highlighted activities with live music, food, contests, and fireworks at dusk. While their vegetables will be available through early October, this is the time to buy the season’s best vegetables at the most reasonable prices to freeze or can for the months when you’re missing the taste of their nutrient packed delicious favorites. Be sure to put this event on your calendar.
We hope you enjoy these fleeting moments of summer!
The Best of Days to You in August!
