The 2017 First Annual Colorado Energy Day is just the start!
This event held in Denver, Colorado on the grounds of historic Denver East High School on Saturday, September 23rd brought together multiple industries, educational institutions and community and industry trade groups to share a common goal of promoting energy awareness along with involvement, recognition and sponsorship of youth educational excellence and extensive networking.
Despite the uncharacteristically cold and rainy day, the mood was warm, inviting and upbeat as Brighton Nacelles VP Factory Manager, Scott Winner, awarded four young engineers from a local high school a check from Vestas for $1000.00 for their outstanding design work on an engineering project as their parents and teacher advisor looked on with pride!
Because of the different aged students, some in high school, others in middle school and still others even younger along with various industry participants and interest groups; the constant stream of visitors to the Vestas tent was extremely diverse and kept the Vestas team on its toes fielding questions on how our wind turbines are built, tested and work that were answered by multiple colleagues from Pueblo Towers, Brighton Blades and Brighton Nacelles. Questions also included who we are, our history and why we have such a passion for Wind energy and these were fielded expertly by our P&C colleagues from the Portland Corporate U.S. Headquarters.
The day was truly a memorable one for Vestas because it was an outstanding opportunity for Vestas to be a corporate steward for Energy awareness and to support the local community while at the same time working with a diverse array of energy, educational and interest trade group colleagues to identify and build bridges of common understanding and excitement around Energy here in the great state of Colorado!
