In July, the City of Brighton launched a new online tool and mobile app that connects residents with city services. SeeClickFix is a free mobile app and web tool that allows residents to report quality-of-life issues while providing city staff with pictures, videos, specific descriptions and other valuable information that staff needs to get the job done efficiently.
In addition, the SeeClickFix platform provides city officials with a centralized issue management system to manage issues from creation to resolution – engaging Brighton residents throughout the process.
SeeClickFix was founded in 2008 to empower citizens with the tools to publicly document quality of life concerns in their neighborhoods. By radically improving the quantity and quality of this data, SeeClickFix was quickly adopted by local governments, who needed a better way to receive information from citizens.
This exchange helped to build one of the largest neighborhood networks in the world – upon which public agencies and public citizens engage to improve communities. Today, SeeClickFix has official partnerships with hundreds of cities, engaging hundreds of thousands of citizens in the resolution of millions of issues.
This partnership between the City of Brighton and SeeClickFix not only allows Brighton citizens to report problems, but also to view, comment on, and vote to fix problems submitted by their neighbors. Citizens can even create their own “watch areas” to receive notifications about all issues reported in their community, enabling them to follow the progress of all service requests – not just the ones they report.
SeeClickFix replaces the city’s previous reporting system, Request Tracker. Some of the biggest changes that residents will notice is that reports can now be made anonymously whereas while using Request Tracker, all submissions required users to have an account. Also, residents can only report issues that are within city limits and are the city’s responsibility to maintain. This will ensure that all the reports are valid and will help city staff in allocating resources to close the reports in a timely manner.
The SeeClickFix mobile app is available for download on Android and Apple. In addition to the mobile apps, citizens can send reports to the City of Brighton’s website at www.brightonco.gov or through the city’s Facebook page.
