Offered by Colorado Country Homes

Originally owned by the Hosey family in the 60’s and purchased from the Blehm family in 1977, Barbara and David Andersen have owned Andersen Star Market for 38 years. In that period of time, they’ve gone through many transitions, built two additions and have become a much appreciated “go to” place in the Hudson community.

In the beginning, they offered home items as well as groceries and many people did a good deal of their shopping at their market. As shopping became more widely done elsewhere, Andersen Star Market has still retained many of their daily and weekly shoppers, and gained a good many convenience store visitors. What can you find today in this small country store? “You can eat quite well from our market,” says Barbara Andersen. They tout freezer wrapped cuts of meat, a rarity today, and are happy to order special items that you might need. How nice to be able to pop in and out without the crowd at the larger markets!

In reminiscing about their ownership, Barbara mentioned that over the years they’ve adjusted their offerings to people’s needs. Many of the locals have either worked at the market or their children have put in their time working at Andersen Star Market. With the sale of the property, the Andersens hope that new life will be breathed into the property and whether the store remains a grocery or becomes some other kind of business, that it remains a cornerstone of the community.
