Cleaning Out Clutter – Don’t Dump It

If you are trying to clean out the clutter at home, but find you’ve got items that aren’t accepted by charities or are hard to sell, don’t toss them in the trash. Consider posting your items on Craigslist or local community Facebook pages in your area. This can help keep trash diverted from landfills in Colorado. Here are some suggestions to make it easier.
Go to www.denver.craigslist.org. If you don’t have an account, sign up by clicking “my account”. Once signed in then go to new posting select city and click “go”. Click “for sale by owner” then click “Free Stuff ”. Give your ad a title and fill in the information. In the posting body list all items that you want to give away. A posting with a photo will always receive more interest.
If you or your neighborhood will be having a garage sale, set up a “Free” section. It’s a great conversation starter, and some people may feel the need to buy something in exchange for your generosity, even though it’s junk to you.
As the old adage goes: “One man’s trash is another man’s treasure,” so recycle whenever you can. Together, and little by little, we can make Colorado and our planet a cleaner, better place for future generations.
