It’s a recurring theme… our “town” is growing. For many, especially long time residents, it’s natural to still call Brighton a town because it has, in spite of considerable growth over the past decade, managed thus far to hang onto its small town charm. In the U.S., an incorporated city is a legally defi ned government entity, with powers delegated by the state and county, created and approved by the voters of the city, which provides local government services to its citizens. So yes, Brighton is most definitely a city in every sense of the word.

Just a short jaunt down I-76, with a population of 682,545 sits Denver, the country’s 19th largest city, and according to the U.S. Census Bureau, with a growth rate of more than 11 percent over the last five years, now officially the fastest growing city in the nation among the 50 biggest cities in the U.S. And, whether one likes the notion or not, Brighton has been a suburb of Denver for several years.

As Denver continues its growth spurt, so does Brighton—existing inventory is at all time lows, forcing the need for new home development, both single and multi-family. More residential rooftops in turn drive more retail operations to view our area more favorably, which then also makes our area more attractive to large companies looking to relocate corporate operations and headquarters. Combine that with our easy access to railway, highway, and air transportation, and Brighton has the perfect formula for continued expansion, or could it be, growth explosion? Only time will tell, but it’s clear that exciting things are on the horizon for “our town!”
