Offered by: Jan Hepp-Struck, Hepp Realty

I am struck by the contrast between this time last year—our community full of excited high school seniors and their parents looking forward to their senior prom, end-of-year recognition assemblies, and that once-in-a-lifetime milestone walk across the graduation stage to receive their high school diploma—and this year with the devastating, albeit necessary, decision by the school district to switch to virtual ceremonies instead. My heart breaks for all of the students and families who won’t be able to enjoy and share that very special experience!

None of us could have imagined a few months ago how devastating this pandemic would be and the far-reaching impact it would have on so many lives, and in so many ways. I want to take this opportunity to send you all a special shout out and let you know that the community is feeling the loss with and for you. You are not alone!

It is my sincere hope that you will not allow this loss to diminish all that you have accomplished in your life thus far.

My hope for you is that you will take to heart the knowledge that what doesn’t kill you does, indeed, make you stronger.

My hope is that you will be able to overcome this disappointment and always remember that even when life throws curve balls, it is how you choose to respond that will determine the memories you have to look back upon in years to come.

There is much to be said about turning lemons into lemonade. And on that note, I would like to raise a very large and delicious glass of lemonade to all members of the graduating class of 2020, and offer you my sincere congratulations and blessing for much joy and success as you venture forth on the next stage of this unpredictable adventure called life!
