Blue Ribbon Hearing & Tinnitus Center will be open on a limited basis during this unprecedented situation where we have been asked to minimize social contact to help contain the spread of the Covid-19 virus. While many businesses have been shut down by order of the governor, hearing healthcare professionals have been recognized as essential workers. It is especially important for the mental health and well-being of individuals that they are able to hear and communicate effectively, especially during times of stress and unease.
In order to balance the important need to hear and the health of our patients, we ask that patients call to schedule an appointment in all cases. Please, do not drop in for service or supplies. We will be scheduling appointments with the option of drive-up service for hearing aid cleaning, repair and service; drive-up service for the purchase of accessories such as batteries and wax guards/filters; phone consultations; hearing aid programming via Hearing Care Anywhere; and in office visits when appropriate.
Please note, when calling the office, you will always reach a virtual answering system. (Due to the overwhelming number of robo-calls that continue to come in, we filter all of our calls by requiring a response from the caller.) By pressing “1” on your keypad, you will be forwarded to the person answering calls at that time. We can discuss your needs to determine the most appropriate course of action for each individual. If your call goes to voicemail, please leave a message and we will return your call as soon as possible.
When you arrive for your scheduled appointment, we ask that you wait in your vehicle and call to let us know you have arrived. We will then either come to your vehicle and collect your devices if you decide to wait outside while we perform your service, or escort you directly to our office so you do not have to touch the door or wait in the reception area. We will continue this practice for the foreseeable future. Please note that the policies dictated by the governor may change in the coming days or weeks and we will work to act accordingly.
During this time of uncertainty, please continue supporting the local small businesses in our community. Please keep in mind especially those that have been shut down until the end of the month and visit them when they reopen. Our local businesses provide a variety of goods and services in a way that few if any big-box retailers can. Many of these businesses support and sponsor local schools, sports, community functions, and charities. Part of the reason we started Blue Ribbon Hearing & Tinnitus Center in Brighton was so that we could support the community we live and work in.
As a final thought, we look forward to the time we can promote the latest breakthrough hearing technology. Prior to the outbreak, I was scheduled to be trained on a truly revolutionary new hearing aid. It is the most impressive technology I have witnessed in nearly 13 years in the hearing aid industry. After experiencing the demonstration, as well as receiving feedback from my patients regarding the way that it works in noise, I would be comfortable taking a patient out to a busy restaurant to demonstrate how well it actually works in noise. Please keep this in mind for the future when we get back to normal.
