Art in the ParkThe objective of Art in the Park is to draw artists and patrons to Brighton for a new and exciting gathering of arts and culture. The Brighton City Council has identified cultural arts as one of their top priorities. This event will serve to showcase many of our local artists, as well as bring new artists into Brighton furthering our commitment to cultural arts. In addition, it will provide a new kind of weekend event that doesn’t currently exist in Brighton.

To continue support and promotion of arts and culture in Brighton, we present the first “Art in the Park” art festival. This one-day festival would be held at Carmichael Park, located behind Brighton City Hall, and would allow for local, statewide and national artists to display and sell their artwork. Art in the Park will give the community an opportunity to purchase original and unique art. Attendees will meet and talk with artists, enjoy live musical performances, artist demonstrations, and interactive art activities for children. The area’s most popular and highly rated food trucks will turn Southern Street into Culinary Avenue providing a variety of upscale food and drink.

Another exciting aspect of the event has been the planning process. Initially the art community was notified of a vision meeting to gather ideas as to what the event should and would look like. City staff support is provided and sometimes as many as 25 artists have come together at monthly meetings to develop the website, application, create maps, share marketing concepts and give input that comes from the artist perspective. This inclusive organic process has proven to be thoughtful and meaningful, while producing an event that has all the elements needed for success.

Art festivals have shown to be successful community events and we are confident people will travel from all over the Denver metro area and beyond to take part in the festival, allowing them to experience the City of Brighton and the first ever Art in the Park!
